I’m new to gardening. Anyone have tips on planting flowers in Northwestern Pennsylvania?

Your best bet is to go to the library and get out some books on gardening. Usually they tell where the specific plant is best suited. Other times you’ll be lucky enough to find a book directed towards your area. The library certainly is a gem.
Most of the soil here is a clay type, so you’ll want to keep that in mind while chosing your plants. Of course, you could buy your own soil but that is more expensive and plenty of plants will do well in what we have naturally. You might also want to research the ways you can keep those deer and rabbits away from your garden because they certainly do wreak havoc. Mesh doesn’t work too well in my experience.
And don’t be afraid to experiment. My mother and I heard that Yucca wouldn’t grow near here, but ours grew well and even flowered.
