Hey I have heard some people saying that you could become blind if you make any liquor at home is it true? and if not could you bust the myth. And if yes what are the precautions that should be taken. Thanks for the video. and what should never be done. please inform us about that.

Thank you for the video. It was helpful. Just a note, the right translation for the song’s title should be “El Toro Solitario”.

I am currently making a wine that’s 2/3 fresh blueberry and 1/3 cran/pomegranate store bought blend.

Put the yeast in some warm water first and wait 15 mins. if it froths, its good, otherwise toss it and get some other. I learned that from bread making. Cant wait to make some wine here in China. Locals make rice wine thats sweet and fruity, not at all like Japanese saki.

that was very nice, you’ve inspired me with taht deliciously dark juice you made

Doesn’t blending give the juice a slight cranberry after taste? That’s been my experience. I’ve found that crushing the erils leave the juice sweet and purer with no after taste. I know it takes longer to do but wouldn’t it make better wine?

    Dear Mr. Dave?
I have really enjoyed your films and the music.
Could you please let me know what is exactly the name of that specie of pomegranate?
I can not find any as deep purple as you used here in Israel.
    Thank you!

thanks doc for the response! really appreciate it…

One packette is good for one to five gallons of juice to be fermented. Inareality if you add smaller starter amounts it will take a bit longer to fermetnt the mash.(since yeasts multily almost every 20-30 minutes, the amount really does not matter much.2. if the pack is out of date or old, the yeast may be dead, check the expirey date OK. enjoy.

hi dr dave! first thanks for the vid. can i ask if there is a certain amount of yeast needed for one bottle of wine? how is the preparation of yeast? why sometimes yeast don’t perform/bubble well? thanks! more power…

Dry or active yeasts in packets are available in the baking section of many grocery stores in all over good old USA. good luck with wine making. be sure to drink responsibly and safely without breaking any house rules or locla regulations OKAY. GOOD LUCK.

where can i find yeast at

  • drbhaldave

POMEGRANATES are a subtropical fruit and in warmer climates grow to a real dark red or deep maroon red color, ask your tropical fruit vendor about good quality fruits for your wine making at home .You will be glad you did. pale or white seeds indicate poor ripening stage or growing conditions.

i live in the uk and have never seen pomegranates that colour! they look so nice almost black seeds not pale pink or white

supermarkets bring the price right down with quality :(
